Patrick Beverley takes shot at Chris Paul for failing to lead Clippers in Conference Finals

More than anyone else, Patrick Beverley stands the proudest in his tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers, and his best feat with them became his subject to take shots against Chris Paul.

Joining comedian Kevin Hart in the Cold As Balls podcast, Beverley took pride in his Western Conference Finals appearance with the Clippers – an accomplishment that Paul and his Lob City squad didn’t achieve.

“Chris Paul was on the Clippers,” said Beverley (h/t Larry Brown Sports). “Then he left and I came on the Clippers. The Clippers went to the Western Conference Finals the only time. They didn’t go there with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and the Lob City. They went there with me.”

What Beverley said is purely factual. Paul’s time for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017 didn’t have much relative postseason success. Meanwhile, the veteran had a heck of a run in his last year with Los Angeles back in 2020-21, failing just two wins shy of an NBA Finals appearance.

Meanwhile, Beverley also slammed the Clippers for their part in what could be that lowballing offer for him following the fruitful season.

“For them to come in and [say], ‘We’re only looking for you get 5, 6 million dollars,’ I felt like that was the ultimate spit to my face when I literally just changed this whole organization around,” Beverley said. “We went to [the] Western Conference Finals. I didn’t think I got the fair end of the stick.”

After a failed contract extension, Beverley was ultimately traded and found himself in the Minnesota Timberwolves, the young team he helped to reach the postseason stage last 2021-22 season.

This year, he is eyeing to do the same for the Los Angeles Lakers.
