Cavs expected to inquire, look for ‘short-term wing option’ – Lowe

As the season continues to make key progress, the Cleveland Cavaliers intend to boost their frontcourt depth.

According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, league circles are in believe that the Cavs will look to tap an acquisition and gain a “short-term wing option.”

“League sources expect the Cavs to search the trade market for another short-term wing option.”

This intention comes in with no surprise. With Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen anchoring their paint, while Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland handing the backcourt, the Cavs are yet to fill that missing void at the small forward spot – which is preferably a 3-and-D-type of cager.

Though Isaac Okoro is a promising defensive wing, his offensive reputation remains developing. Meanwhile, Caris LeVert is very much suitable as a spark plug sixth man given the Cavaliers’ high scoring starting five.

In the previous months, the Cavs have been rumored eyeing Phoenix Suns’ Jae Crowder for a trade. With the veteran having an expiring deal this season, that “short-term” condition placed by the club only fits their intent for him.

So far, the Cavaliers are riding their momentum as a rising Eastern Conference team with a 22-14 record.
