Spanish clubs win on Thursday

EuroleagueOnly two clubs are left unbeaten in Top 16. Montepaschi and TAU Ceramica are the only teams to win in all three games. TAU defeated Aris to keep their first place in Group E. That makes Aris the only team without any wins with the record 0-3. One of Euroleague favourites Real Madrid were stopped in Tel Aviv as they lost 75-94 against Maccabi.

The win took Maccabi to the first place in Group F due to better points difference. Nikola Vujcic was back after injury and scored 14 points against Spanish champions. The return of Lazaros Papadopoulos was marked with 7 points 23 minutes of play. Will Bynum was the top scorer of the game with 22 points.

Surprise package of Top 16, Lottomatica Roma, suffered a thrashing loss away at Barcelona. Italian club was down 11-30 after the 1st quarter. Barca won the 4th quarter 27-17 and recorded the biggest win in Top 16 this season. Gianluca Basile and Jaka Lakovic were the only players in double digits for the winners.

Efes Pilsen played without 4 of their Americans that didn't travel to Belgrade. Only five players scored points for the Turkish giants. Nikola Pekovic led the Serbs once again with 20 points under his belt. 2nd quarter was a breakthrough for Partizan as they won it 20-8.

Aris is the only team which is in a serious trouble after losing at home against TAU Ceramica. Home court means a lot in Top 16 and that has already been proven. Spaniards will try to continue their winning ways against Lietuvos Rytas next week at home in Vitoria.

An overtime was needed to determine a winner in Istanbul. Will Solomon made a shot after the buzzer but the referees decided that the basket counted. It took 15 minutes to watch the replay until the decision was made to play the overtime with the score 79-79. Additional 5 minutes didn't change the winner. Fenerbahce defeated Lietuvos Rytas in a pretty empty Abdi Ipekci Sports Hall.
