Daily Gossip, Monday 1/6/15

We’re heading into another off-season, and already the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks (again) have altered their club logos.

The two teams join the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors in having new looks for next season.

Atlanta Hawks:

Personally, it’s one of the better ones you will see and we hope it stays like that for a long time. If Atlanta wanted to give off the vibe that the Hawks isn’t just a club for the players … it’s for the fans, the staff and everyone involved then they’ve succeeded.

And the fans, staff agree.

Los Angeles Clippers:

This logo hasn’t been 100 percent confirmed yet but the 2015 NBA Draft caps have been revealed and the logo is strikingly different. Could it be?

Big contrast to the Hawks touch up. Boring, not effective. Let’s hope the “new” uniforms live up to the billing.

THE BEST NBA PLAYER TO WEAR THAT NUMBER

Basketball throwback jersey maker Mitchell and Ness have come up with a really cool way to show the basketball fan just who was the best player to wear jersey 1 through to 99.

There are some simple ones, Frenchman Evan Fournier was the only player that we know to have worn number 94 and so on… But it sparks interesting debate.

Notice no LeBron James.

Via M&N:

As a vintage sports apparel company, we at Mitchell & Ness are obsessed with debating sports and recalling the greats who made us fall in love with the game. A typical meeting a few months ago went wildly off-course as a heated discussion broke out over who the best NBA player to wear number 33 was. We discussed stats and awards all while hearing valuable arguments for Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar while marveling at the other competitors at #33 – Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Scottie Pippen, and more. After #33, we kept the debate going, laboring over other notable numbers. The M&N team, including our designers and historians, had so much fun debating the hotly-contested numbers, and finding out-of-the-box bests like Shawn Bradley that we decided to go through the entire list and pick out the best player to ever wear that number.
