WATCH: Nikola Jokic officially receives first Michael Jordan MVP trophy

Following the Denver Nuggets’ 141-128 high-scoring dub over the Washington Wizards, superstar Nikola Jokic officially accepted the Michael Jordan NBA MVP trophy.

Head coach Mike Malone presented the plum to the franchise star in the Nuggets locker room. Jokic was announced as the first player to accept the brand new model of the MVP award in honor of his last season’s accomplishment.

The NBA announced earlier this week that the MVP trophy of the association will now be named after Jordan, who cemented himself as perhaps the greatest basketball player ever with his six championships as the main man of the Chicago Bulls.

Besides the MVP trophy, the rest of the annual awards such as the Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year, among others will be named after other great players associated with them.

Jokic propelled the Nuggets with his 43-point explosion together with 14 boards and eight assists, as the club picked up its third-straight win.
