Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Myers is currently in the last year of his contract and remains without a new deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

As the top brain trust of the organization since 2012, Myers was the one responsible for constructing the Warriors’ powerhouse core being bannered by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, who established itself as one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history – winning four championships in an eight-year span.

As relayed by Wojnarowski’s sources, Myers and Golden State’s ownership group had conversations about landing a new deal, but the said negotiations are currently placed on “hiatus.”

“My entire focus is on the season and the team,” Myers said while declining to further add his thoughts on his looming contract expiration that is believed to take place by June next year per Woj’s sources.

Meanwhile, club CEO and owner Joe Lacob intends to retain Myers for years to come.

“We love Bob and hope he is here for a long time,” Lacob said.

The Warriors have an impending concern regarding their payroll as a franchise, which is expected to balloon for around and over $500 million in the next few years should they opt to extend Green and Thompson. As such, this may suggest that their hefty cap could critically affect their personal decisions on signing their key personnel, with Myers being a notable example.

Meanwhile, Wojnarowski further added that both the Dubs and coach Steve Kerr had discussions for a potential extension. Given Kerr’s remaining contract with two years left, this puts less pressure on the franchise.

Myers joined the Warriors organization in 2011 as their assistant manager. A year later, he was elevated to the general manager position and fulfilled an outstanding job of transforming Golden State as a heavyweight team and even luring away Kevin Durant to join them in 2016. His two Executive of the Year honors further serve as living proof of his brilliance.
