This past offseason Tim Connelly left the Nuggets where he served as the general manager and president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves take the role of the president of basketball operations.

Right from the start he made ambitious comments about the team. With him in charge, Minnesota made a bold move by trading for a three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert.

So far the Timberwolves are not giving the desired results. The team is 12-12 which puts it in the 11th place in the Western Conference – just outside the play-in zone.

Connelly remains optimistic about the team, however, he takes full responsibility if does not go well.

Via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic:

“I’m pretty optimistic about the group of great guys we have here,” Connelly said. “We know we have the right coach, we know we have the right ownership. If it doesn’t work, point the fingers at me. I’m a big boy. I have pretty high expectations for this organization and for myself. But with all these new faces, it’s going to be hard at times, and how do we help?”
