Illinois head coach Brad Underwood said that he only recruits “winners” following the Fighting Illini’s 85-78 neutral site overtime victory vs. the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns last night.

(via Illini Inquirer: Illinois on 247Sports):

“I’ve said this many times, we got winners. They’re all state champions. Matthew [Mayer] and Dain [Dainja] are national champions, Terrence [Shannon] is an Elite 8 guy, all those high school kids have won. We try not to ever recruit anybody that has not come from a winning program. That helps because they know how to operate in the locker room and get along. This is a really close group. Tonight, it was some guys off the bench who really impacted us. So, we’ll take it.”
