Draymond Green isn’t convinced of the technical foul call that was handed to him in the dying minutes of the Golden State Warriors’ eventual 137-114 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After Jordan Poole blew against Naz Reid towards the basket to finish a layup with less than two minutes left, Green did a celebration on the Warriors’ sidelines by mimicking the guard’s offensive shot.
A referee triggered a technical foul upon Green’s slight move towards the court, which prompted the veteran to shortly talk and file a complaint along with coach Steve Kerr.
“It’s crazy. I probably got four techs this year that are questionable,” Green said in the postgame, via ESPN Kendra Andrews. “They told me I was at the lane line, but I thought I was standing in the corner. So I don’t know. It sucks, though.”
Green, who dropped his first double-double of the season with a season-high 19 markers and 11 dimes, now has seven technical assessments connected to his name this season.
Later on, referees called another technical foul against Stephen Curry, who went celebrating on his own part after Donte Divincenzo drained a three.
The action and trolling made by Curry was a support for Green, which the big man fully appreciated.
“It’s the NBA, man,” Green said. “Your teammates make a good move, I didn’t affect the play. There was no one near me. So it sucks. And the fact that that’s going to count against my tech count? Common, that’s ridiculous.”
The Warriors now have won five of their last six games, allowing themselves to finally climb atop the .500 win mark after a sluggish start.
The defending champs will travel to Texas for a Western Conference Finals rematch with the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
