New Orleans Pelicans’ C.J. McCollum has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. With that, he will miss the team’s Friday contest with the Memphis Grizzlies.
McCollum initially missed the Pels’ Wednesday game against the San Antonio Spurs due to a non-COVID illness. Even without him, the club easily cruised to a 129-110 victory behind Zion Williamson’s efficient 32 markers and 11 boards.
With him being absent against the Grizzlies, coach Willie Green may chunk McCollum’s rotational minutes and distribute them to Jose Alvarado and Devontae Graham.
The veteran guard is averaging 18.7 markers, 6.1 assists, 5.1 boards, and 1.2 steals in 41 percent shooting per 17 games this season.
