Immanuel Quickley dusts off trade murmurs: ‘I don’t really get into that kind of stuff’

Immanuel Quickley isn’t minding the inclusion of his name on the newest trade chatters.

The promising guard is directing his focus towards playing the game and helping the New York Knicks to its current road trip, wherein they are 2-0 on the stretch so far following the gutsy wins over the Utah Jazz and the Denver Nuggets.

“Honestly, I don’t really get into that kind of stuff. I’m just focused on the road trip, taking it one day at a time,” Quickley told Fred Katz of The Athletic. “That stuff works itself out just like the basketball works itself out.”

As provided by Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Knicks have expressed willingness to be engaged in trade discussions about Quickley and Derrick Rose, wherein the club is considering clearing some space for their loaded backcourt. Last week, Ian Begley of SNY reported that teams have tapped New York about the availability of the third-year guard.

Upon the arrival of Jalen Brunson, Quickley’s exposure has been diminished under Tom Thibodeau’s rotation. He is averaging a single-digit in points (8.9) after back-to-back seasons of averaging over 11 markers while showcasing career highs in boards (4.8) and steals (1.3) to go with 3.3 assists. He is also shooting inefficiently from three-point land, averaging 29.3 percent in 3.9 attempts average for 15 games.

Should he be traded, Quickley can only hope that he lands on a squad that can nurture is continuing growth as exciting young guar within the league.
