Going into the season the Nets were widely perceived as one of the favorites to win it all. However, the reality – at least for now – appears to be different. Brooklyn is 6-9 following a blowout loss against Sacramento (153-121).

The team is playing without the suspended Kyrie Irving and the supposed third star on the roster, Ben Simmons, is struggling. Superstar Kevin Durant was blunt when talking about the Nets chances of winning as he pointed at the starting lineup, which, apart from him, lacks any star presence.

Via Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report:

“Look at our starting lineup. Edmond Sumner, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris, [Nic] Claxton and me. It’s not disrespect, but what are you expecting from that group? Durant asked of B/R. “You expect us to win because I’m out there. So if you’re watching from that lens, you’re expecting us to play well because No. 7 is out there.”

Durant is averaging 30.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 36.6 minutes per game for Brooklyn this season.
