Golden State Warriors guard Donte DiVincenzo was ejected during their match against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
DiVincenzo contested the soaring Josh Richardson for a one-on-one transition contest late in the fourth period. Though he grabbed the ball in his left hand, DiVincenzo swung his right arm and hit Richardson’s face in the air.
Officials initially assessed the sequence as a regular foul. But upon review, it was then overturned to a technical foul 2, ousting DiVincenzo prematurely.
Steve Kerr and the Warriors fans inside the Chase Center were shocked by the decision against DiVincenzo, who left the game with five points and two assists in nine minutes of play.
Even after his exit, the Dubs took care of business easily as they demolished the Spurs, 132-95, behind the 36-point splash of Jordan Poole.
