Isaiah Thomas, Enes Freedom being targeted by Taiwanese teams – report

With plenty of notable free agents still stuck in the market, several Taiwanese teams could be on the lookout.

According to league reporter Marc Stein, Taiwan has to be kept an eye on as a potential landing spot for players that are hoping to revive their NBA careers.

Added by Stein, the unexpected signing of Dwight Howard by Taoyuan Leopards could pave the way for other Taiwanese clubs to add reinforcements as their response. As such, the likes of Isaiah Thomas and Enes Freedom are being eyed.

Thomas, 33, is now a shell of his former self. After enjoying brief stardom as the main man of the Boston Celtics, he slowly crumbled in his career after initially suffering a hamstring injury back in 2017. Last season, he jumped from multiple teams via hardship exception deals and was eventually signed by the Charlotte Hornets in March for the remainder of the season, averaging 8.3 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 boards in 17 appearances for them.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Freedom remains an enticing free-agent big man. His outspoken demeanor and activism were rumored to be hindrances to another playing opportunity in basketball. He averaged 3.7 points and 4.6 rebounds last season for the Celtics prior to being traded and waived by the Houston Rockets.
