James Worthy on Lakers’ loss vs Kings: “Frivolous and inexcusable loss”

The agony of Lakers continued as the were beaten by the Kings at crypto.com Arena (120-114). It was a fifth straight loss for Los Angeles which puts them at 2-10 so far this season

Lakers legend James Worthy saw no excuses for the Purple and Gold who played without LeBron James. “Frivolous and inexcusable loss,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet. “So many mistakes.

“To me the game was lost at the end of the second quarter. They had a 13-point lead. Turnover, turnover, poor execution, next thing you know Sacramento’s back within four I believe. That just gave them the momentum to come back in the third quarter because at that point they felt like they could beat the Lakers.

“And then in the second half, I just thought they didn’t execute well, they didn’t play smart, little dumb fouls, technical fouls. It seemed like it broke the momentum. And then the execution down the stretch.

“We saw what Sacramento did with their best layer [De’Aaron] Fox. We didn’t seem to get into anything like force post-ups with AD getting pushed out of the post, didn’t take advantage of [Lonnie] Walker who I thought in the fourth quarter we could use his athletic ability as Sacramento did with Fox. We needed somebody who could create. Yeah, disappointing.”
