Michael Malone has no intention to make Bones Hyland into John Stockton

Bones Hyland had a big game against the Spurs, helping the Nuggets take the win. The 22-year-old point guard finished the game with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in 25 minutes of play.

Denver’s head coach Michael Malone does not want to change the way that Hyland plays as a point guard. In postgame press conference he said he is not going to try to change the player to be like a Jazz legend.

“This is how Bones plays,” Malone said, per Mike Singer. “I’m not gonna take a player and try to make him into John Stockton when he’s not John Stockton.”

This season the sophomore is averaging 13.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 19.1 minutes per game.
