Pistons HC Dwane Casey praises Cavs’ ‘masterful job’ of rebuilding

Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey can only tip off his hat on the sudden emergence of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Prior to the Pistons’ Friday match against the Cavaliers, Casey praised how the promising club has managed to make a dramatic turnaround fresh from a rebuild.

“They have a good blueprint for the rebuild,” Casey told Mike Curtis of The Detroit News. “They’ve done a masterful job of rebuilding their team in a short time.”

Following the reign of LeBron James and their four-straight Finals appearances that was bannered by a 2016 title, the Cavs went on for a full-blown rebuild that started in 2018.

Thanks to General Manager Koby Altman shouldering the utmost responsibility of molding a new Cleveland team, the franchise embraced relevant moves from the past few years. Now, they enjoy a talented core that is being led by Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

The franchise is certainly set for the future, but their foundational pieces are making such noise as early as now. Behind the star power of Mitchell and the co., fortified by Kevin Love and the rest of the team’s veterans, the Cavaliers are now sitting at a solid 7-1 record – establishing their stake as an Eastern Conference power.
