Celtics not seeking compensation from Nets to part ways with Ime Udoka — insider

The Boston Celtics don’t intend to put a roadblock on Ime Udoka if he wishes to grab the coaching opportunity from the Brooklyn Nets.

Sources told NBA on TNT’s Chris Haynes that the Celtics won’t look for compensation from the Nets in wake of Udoka being the front-runner for the embattled team’s vacant head coaching slate. They will allow Udoka to pack his bag up and leave Boston after the inside scandal he caused within the franchise.

Following the announcement of his suspension, rumors have circled around that the Cs could utilize Udoka as a trade piece. It is not entirely a bad idea, given that the club has committed to this move from the past by trading head coach Doc Rivers to the L.A. Clippers for a 2015 first-round pick back in 2013 offseason.

After leading Boston to a magical NBA Finals run for the first time since 2010 as a neophyte lead mentor, Udoka formed league-wide buzz after having an improper relationship with a female team staff member. This prompted the franchise to shelve him out and allow Joe Mazzulla to take over as interim coach.

As such, his absence from the Celtics sidelines already made impressions that his future in the franchise is murky already, and this shocking intentions by the Nets to hire him after the dismissal of Steve Nash can only offer a sigh of relief on his desire to have a coaching gig again.

For now, the clock is just ticking on what will be the next event that is set to unfold for these involved camps.
