Swingman Josh Hart has entered the NBA’s concussion protocol after suffering from a head injury in the team’s Friday win against the Houston Rockets. It remains yet to be determined when he’ll make a return.

As noted by the NBA’s Concussion Policy, Hart has to go through a return-to-participation process, which may start not earlier than 24 hours from the time of injury.

Though this serves as an unpleasant update given that Hart has been a stellar perimeter presence for them and franchise star Damian Lillard remains out due to calf injury, the Blazers can take a sigh of relief for now considering that they’ll have a long layoff. They will play their next game on Wednesday to face the Memphis Grizzlies at home.

Hart, who was appointed by head coach Chauncey Billups to enter at the small forward of Blazers’ starting slate, has been a serviceable one so far for the team’s 5-1 start this season, averaging 10.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 35.8 minutes.
