Gregg Popovich declines to give comment following the Spurs’ release of 2021 Draft’s 12th overall pick Josh Primo

The head honchos of the San Antonio Spurs can only provide a deafening silence after the shocker move they made this Friday evening.

Per Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express News, Gregg Popovich declined to give his comment in wake of the release of second-year man Josh Primo into their lineup.

Primo was unexpectedly waived by the Spurs few moments have passed, sending shockwaves across the league circles. At age 18, he is the youngest player to be chosen in last year’s draft and became its 12th overall selection out of Alabama.

On behalf of the Spurs franchise, top executive R.C. Buford released a statement regarding the removal of Primo.

“It is our hope that, in the long run, this decision will serve the best interest of both the organization and Joshua,” said Buford in a press release.

The Canadian guard served as one of the rebuilding pillars of San Antonio after the Dejounte Murray trade last offseason. He appeared in four games suiting up the silver and black this 2022-23 season, averaging 7.0 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 23.3 minutes of play.

The Spurs picked up their third-year team option on Primo earlier this month.
