Warriors most valuable team in the NBA per Forbes; outranks Lakers, Knicks for the first time

The Golden State Warriors now sit atop of the NBA’s most lucrative franchises.

In Forbes‘ latest annual NBA valuation, the defending champs have overtaken both the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. This marks the first time since the company started tallying the value of the ball clubs for over 20 years that these two teams weren’t able to fill the highest post.

The Dubs are now worth $7 billion, as they increased 25 percent in value from last year. They also amassed the most revenue and compiled $150 million from arena sponsorship and advertising.

Their major jump can be credited from the revival of their dynasty, as Golden State sealed their fourth title in eight years last season behind the brilliance of superstar Stephen Curry.

The Knicks came in at second in the ranking ($6.1 billion), followed by the Los Angeles Lakers ($5.9 billion), Chicago Bulls ($4.1 billion) and the Boston Celtics ($4 billion).

All NBA teams have a $1.6 billion value or more, with the New Orleans Pelicans settling at dead last.
