After a disappointing tournament and a 7th place finish in FIBA World Cup 2019 in China, Team USA will want to bounce back next year when the tournament will be hosted in Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.

Trae Young who missed out on the Olympic team in 2021 is open to suiting for his country in 2023. The 24-year-old point guard has previously represented the United States at a junior level – he part of the Gold-winning U-18 in 2016.

“Yes, I’m definitely open to it,” Young told The Athletic, in a recent sitdown interview, when asked about the World Cup. “I mean, even since I was in high school, it’s been my dream as a basketball player. I’ve tried out multiple times since I’ve been in high school. There’s been a couple of times when I could have been on that team, and it kind of hurt my heart.”
