Just a few years ago Blake Griffin was one of the biggest stars in the NBA. His iconic dunks were regularly on highlight reels. However, he was hit with injuries and saw his career decline.

Since the 2019-2020 NBA season his numbers have been going down. Unlike some other stars, he appears to have accepted being a role player. That’s what the 76ers head coach Doc Rivers who coached Griffin on the Clippers pointed out.

“It’s unusual that a star like him is willing to turn himself into a role player … most can’t … when I went to LA, I realized his passing. We started used him at the elbow more … bring the ball up. We opened his game up quite a bit,” Rivers said, per Bobby Manning.

Griffin made his debut with the Celtics against the Sixers. The 33-year-old power forward came off the bench to play 8 minutes during which he scored 1 point.
