Facundo Campazzo is very much grateful of having another NBA season in his career, this time with the Dallas Mavericks.

After a lousy tagging with them from the previous days, Campazzo officially inked a one-year deal with the Mavs – signalling his return to the league after uncertainty has swirled throughout the offseason.

“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity,” Campazzo told Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com. “I was training hard, as much as I could in Argentina. I just tried to be ready for any chance in the NBA. The opportunity came now and I love it.”

Campazzo previously played for the Denver Nuggets for the last two seasons. Prior to that, he spent some decorated seasons donning for Real Madrid, sharing the court with a familiar one in the Mavs – Luka Doncic.

The Argentinian star noted that his friendship with Doncic remains the same even if the phenom headed first to go to the NBA in 2018.

He also gave nothing but praise on the Dallas superstar’s maturity and how he affects his teammates around positively.

“We keep in touch after he left Real Madrid – texting, Instagram,” Campazzo said. “He’s a friend and he’s helping me a lot through the process. I think he’s going to help me a lot (with) the plays, the terminology.

“He grew a lot. He’s a senior now. When he was 18, he used to play like an old – no, an experienced man. Right now, he’s still playing like an experienced man. He makes everyone better. After you play with Luka, you’re a better player.”

As the Mavs are eyeing another fruitful season, Campazzo vows to put everything he can to try to lift the franchise on greater heights of success.

“I hope this is the right opportunity,” Campazzo said. “I will try my best. It’s a new team, new teammates and new coach.

“It’s a new challenge and I will try to help the team on and off the court. I have to take any chances I get. It’s all new for me.”
