Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff no concern about Evan Mobley missing start of season

Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff stands optimistic on the recovery of Evan Mobley while foreseeing the big man will be available on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2022-23 season start.

“We’ll always be safe with our guys, but right now there isn’t a concern that he would miss the start of the season,” Bickerstaff told Kelsey Russo of The Athletic.

As such, Bickerstaff will look to shuffle his lineup deck within the Cavs’ preseason stage.

“It gives other people an opportunity to play different spots, and get more minutes and more reps and allows us to get more things on film that we can kind of dissect,” he said.

The Cavaliers have announced on Monday that Mobley will be sidelined for 1-2 weeks after sustaining a sprained right ankle.

Mobley, the Cavs’ wonder big from USC, is coming off a robust rookie year with the franchise.
