Robert Sarver-owned Suns franchise likely to fetch over $4B in market value — report

Though he is not entirely willing to part ways with his franchise, Robert Sarver could at least savor the amount of his Phoenix Suns in the marketplace.

Sources told veteran insider Marc Stein that the Suns could reach $4 billion mark or more in value and it “appear destined to sell for the highest amount in league history.” Joe Tsai’s 2019 purchase of both the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center still stands as the most lucrative, with $3.5 billion in total amount.

After he was found guilty of improper workplace conduct and allegations of sexism, misogyny and racism within the Suns organization, the embattled Sarver was slapped by the league with a handful of sanctions. Initially didn’t resign from his ownership duties, he found himself stepping on hot water from public backlash – which prompted him to fully let go and announce his intent to sell the club including the WNBA’s Mercury franchise.

Sarver bought the Suns in 2004 for a $400 million in amount. In the latest tally of Forbes, the said ball club was listed at $1.8 billion in value, the 18th-most valuable NBA franchise.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, former Disney CEO Bob Iger and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison are rumored to be interested in bidding in order to gain full control of the Suns.
