Tyler Herro confident on market value, not in a rush to complete deal with Heat

Amid the ongoing buzz about his future in South Beach, Tyler Herro is maintaining that confidence about his market value.

“There’s players across the league that have gotten paid who I know I’m better than. So it’s got to be the right number,” Herro told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

It remains a mystery on how Herro and the Heat will land a probable deal soon. Now entering his fourth season in the association, the promising guard is rookie extension-eligible.

Should he not be able to land one with Miami before the Oct. 17 deadline, he will be slated to become a restricted free-agent in the next offseason.

“If (the extension) is not ready, I continue to play my game and figure it out next summer,” he said.

Several young contemporaries in the likes of RJ Barrett and Keldon Johnson have already inked their gigantic rookie extension deals respectively, hammering an extended commitment with their very own ball club.

For Herro, he also wants to remain as a Miami Heatman, but not in a rush to retain years of service.

“I don’t want to go anywhere,” Herro said. “But, like I said, it’s got to make sense for my family. I’m not rushing to get anything done.”

Herro is coming off a blazing 2021-22 with the Heat, tallying career-high 20.7 markers to go with four assists average en route to a Sixth Man of the Year honors.
