NBA unveiled new docuseries Hoop Cities, highlighting basketball culture in Europe

The NBA has launched Hoop Cities, with the first three episodes (Belgrade, Bologna, and Paris) going live on NBA League Pass today.

Hoop Cities is an eight-part, in-language docuseries produced by the NBA’s Europe and Middle East team that explores the local culture, history and basketball communities surrounding the game throughout the following European cities: Belgrade (Serbia), Bologna (Italy), Cologne & Leverkusen (Germany), Istanbul (Turkey), Kaunas (Lithuania), Paris (France), Seville (Spain) and Thessaloniki (Greece).

Belgrade

The Belgrade episode of Hoop Cities looks at the impact of NBA stars such as Vlade Divac, as well as how the explosive rivalry between Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade influenced Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Bologna

Bologna’s episode looks at the special relationship the coty has always had with basketball. The city’s heritage and fandom has attracted the likes of four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili and former San Antonio Spurs coach Ettore Messina to add their own chapters to the city`s proud basketball history.

Paris

New York Knicks guard Evan Fournier takes viewers from the NBA to the French capital, a city where basketball dates back more than a century. Fashion designer Stepháne Ashpool, who designed the Pigalle court, also features in the video.
