Jae Crowder has reportedly requested a trade from the Suns after being told that he may not be starting this season. The team and the player agreed that he will not participate in training camp as a deal for him is being searched for.

Phoenix head coach Monty Williams spoke about the situation of the 32-year-old forward, saying that it would be good to have another player in his place before the opening night (October 19 vs. the Mavericks).

At the same time, Williams says he is comfortable with the players that he has at his disposal right now.

“We’ve done a decent job of acclimating guys into the program and that’s a credit to the coaches, but also the players that help guys along once we get new people in here,” Williams continued. “I’m not so much worried about the timeline. Ideally, you’d like to get someone in here before opening night, but I like the group we have.”

Last season Crowder averaged 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 28.1 minutes per game for Phoenix.
