Khris Middleton unlikely to play in Bucks’ initial parts of 22-23 season due to left wrist surgery recovery

Khris Middleton is unlikely to play in the early parts of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2022-2023 season.

Middleton, who had a left wrist surgery this offseason, is taking his time to fully recover. He revealed that the said injury happened during last season’s All-star Game.

“The injury happened sometime around All-star game,” Middleton said in his team’s Media Day, per Bucks insider Justin Garcia. “Just kind of never went away.  I don’t think I’ll be ready for the start of the season but hopefully soon after that.”

The star swingman suffered from an MCL sprain in his right knee during Milwaukee’s first-round duel against the Chicago Bulls last postseason. His unavailability served as a major blow for the club in defending their title, as the eventual East champion Boston Celtics outlasted them in seven-gruelling games on the following round.

“It wasn’t too painful, just something that was going to have to be fixed at some point.”

Middleton had a productive 2021-22 campaign en route to his third All-star nod, compiling 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 dimes on 44.3 percent shooting for 66 games.

Sans Middleton temporarily, the Bucks will enter the forthcoming campaign in an exciting opener against fellow East giant Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 21.
