The Boston Celtics are continuing their efforts to bring honor and appreciation to the late great Bill Russell.

The club has reportedly painted a No. 6 in the free throw lanes of their parquet floor within the TD Garden. It only serves as a part of a long-season tribute that the Cs will make for Russell.

The Celtics have already announced that they will honor the legendary big man for numerous times this next 2022-23 season. They will conduct a celebration on their opening night this Oct. 18 and another one on Feb. 18 on what would have been his 89th birthday. Other than that, the Cs will suit up special Russell-themed gears on several occasions.

On its part, the NBA has declared that the No. 6 will be retired league-wide and every home court has to have No. 6 on the sideline near their scorer’s table.

Russell, a basketball pioneer, civil rights activist and the man behind Boston’s 11 out of 17 NBA world championships, passed away peacefully last Jul. 31.
