Spurs remain open to taking Russell Westbrook

Earlier this season the Spurs were mentioned as a potential landing spot for Russell Westbrook. The team is in rebuilding mode and would be willing to take the big contract ($47 for next season) of the former NBA MVP for the right compensation.

There were some talks between the Lakers and the Spurs but they did not go far and Russ remains with the Purple & Gold. Reportedly, Los Angeles is more interested in making deals with the Pacers and the Jazz.

According to LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, even though the Spurs are not in talks with the Lakers at the moment, San Antonio remains open to acquiring Westbrook.

This past season the 33-year-old point guard averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 34.3 minutes per game.
