Insiders: FA LaMarcus Aldridge likely to hit retirement

There is a belief that the 2021-2022 season could serve as the last one for LaMarcus Aldridge.

Chris Mannix and Howard Beck of Sports Illustrated appeared in an episode this week of “The Crossover NBA Show,” wherein they believe that the big man is likely to finally call it quits.

As a current free-agent in the open market, Aldridge’s door remains open for another playing opportunity. But a call hasn’t been made yet by a team to tap his service.

Following his unexpected retirement in April 2021 due to an irregular heartbeat, Aldridge made a comeback for the Nets last season, averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 55 percent shooting for 47 appearances.

If indeed he is set to walk away for the greater good of the next chapter of his life, Aldridge’s résumè highlights solid achievements: seven-time All-star and five-time All-NBA membership in 16 playing seasons.
