After all the rumors and speculations that appeared, the Golden State Warriors have eventually considered trading for Kevin Durant when the past Brooklyn Nets drama was at its pinnacle.

When asked by Matt Sullivan of Rolling Stone if his club had taken a look at going for Durant, Stephen Curry shouted “Hell, yeah!” as his response.

Curry admitted that there were scenarios of questioning within the Dubs regarding Durant and his status, and he expressed no hesitancy to possibly reunite with his ex-superstar teammate.

“There was a conversation internally amongst us about ‘If he was available, would you?’ Every team has those conversations, and obviously in our situation, they’re gonna call me and ask me, ‘How do you feel about it?’ I was never hesitant,” Curry said. “The idea of playing with KD and knowing who he is as a person, from our history in those three years, I think KD’s a really good dude.”

Durant arrived in the Bay Area in the 2016 offseason via controversial free agency signing that changed the balance of power in the NBA. He proceeded to empower the Warriors as an invincible villain in the league, serving as their best player while going for three more NBA Finals appearances and winning the two of them in back-to-back of 2017 and 2018.

In the summer of 2019, he packed up his bag and departed, choosing the Brooklyn Nets with hopes to start a new chapter. But things didn’t go well as planned, which have reached the turning point wherein Durant demanded a trade this offseason.

Though he already patched things up with the Brooklyn brass and committed himself again, it adds an extreme pressure to his part to finally win one. His former team in Golden State has made a comeback at the top of the basketball summit without needing his presence.

As such, no matter what, Curry remains supportive of Durant of his previous decision to part ways.

“I think he is misunderstood,” Curry said. “I think he has had certain things happen in his life that hurt his ability to trust people around him, in a sense of making him feel safe at all times. So all of those things, I understand, having played with him and gotten to know him. I love that dude.”
