Both Panathinaikos and Olympiacos recorded victories ahead of their big clash next week

Olympiacos- Panionios 108-65

Olympiacos stormed past the already relegated Red and Blue side, showing they are ready for the rival game this weekend. They got an early 5-0 lead and since then they never found themselves trailing. After 10 minutes they were in front 32-17 but they did not stop there and stretched the lead to 51-28 by halftime, doing everything the right way in offense, while on defense the offensive choices the visitors made were not the best possible.

After the restart of the game nothing changed and Olympiacos did not step off the throttle with Lojeski leading the way, they ended the 3rd period leading with almost a double score, 80-43. A slightly improved Panionios’ offense helped them to reach the 65 points but again the home side was looking to reach the 100 point mark and so they did. The final score indicates the superiority of the home side who had Lojeski with 18 points. On the other side, once again Coleman gave it all with 22 points.

Aris- Panathinaikos 56-72

Tight defense helped Panathinaikos bent Aris’ resistance and remain close to Olympiacos, chasing him for the pole position of the Greek Basket League. The home fans created a nice atmosphere that helped their team to stay close to their opponents 14-17 at the beginning but during the second period the visitors played some great defense and combined with the low shooting percentage Aris had, got to the half time leading 23-38. It was impressive that since an early 12-7 lead the home side had, the partial score was 11-31.

With that being said everyone expected Aris to react and so they did with a 5-0 run that got them back to the game but for a while because 4 consecutive shots behind the arc sent Panathinaikos again on top 28-50. Batista kept scoring from inside and the score after 30’ was 39-59. Slaughter kept finding open shots, forcing Aris to give up while Lawal made his comeback after his injury and seemed ready to help the “Greens”. Pappas is in great shape and proved it again with his 17 points, followed by Batista who helped with 10p. On the other side, Vezenkov was the only player with double-digits for his team with 11.
