Patrick Beverley ‘super excited’ in his new pairing with Russell Westbrook

His now unexpected partnership with Russell Westbrook makes Patrick Beverley pumped up to start the new season.

The new Los Angeles Lakers guard is fully ecstatic to share the court with Westbrook soon, citing that he is very much looking forward to playing with a player that holds an intense competitiveness as him.

“Super excited,” Beverley when asked during his first Lakers workout interview about his fit with Westbrook, per ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “… I was asked this question two, three years ago, [about] someone I always wanted to play with and [Westbrook] was the first name. I have [known] Bron since I was a baby, a rookie in this league, so obviously I want to play with him.

“But a player with that competitive spirit, that fire, that will, that dog, that nastiness, that grit, to have a running mate like that, I have never had that. So I am super excited to see where it goes. Obviously like any relationship or any marriage, things, we are going to have tough conversations. That is what comes with winning, but I am excited about those conversations, I am excited about the practices. I am just excited to be able to compete with someone like that.”

Beverley arrived in Los Angeles being expected to help the Lakeshow be back to relevance, but his tandem with Westbrook comes up unexpectedly as it is.

As such, the two appear to have finally shattered their past rivalries. Sweating during his interview, Westbrook threw a towel to Beverley to let his new backcourt partner look good. The former league MVP is even the only one who watched the veteran during that said mini-press conference

And the two connected for a wholesome moment.

With a championship still on their vision, purple and gold faithful can only hope for a wonderful partnership from the two two in the long run.
