Report: ACL tear-riddled Danilo Gallinari ‘determined’ to return for Celtics in late 2022-2023 campaign

Amid the forthcoming tough uphill climb in his ACL recovery, Danilo Gallinari is reportedly eyeing to make a push for a comeback as soon as he can.

A source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Gallinari is “determined” to return late in the 2022-2023 season for the Boston Celtics.

The recovery timeline for a torn ACL stands from six to 12 months, wherein there is a possibility that a player can still miss a whole season due to risks and rehabbing purposes.

Further medical examination of the franchise concludes that the veteran sustained a tear in his left knee ACL, which appeared during Italy’s World Cup qualifying game against Georgia. The Italian club initially announced that Gallinari only had a torn meniscus.

Following the announcement, Gallinari published a statement, promising the Cs fans and his teammates that he’ll give everything he can to bring that 18th title banner.

Gallinari was signed by the Celtics brass this offseason to a two-year deal. A sniper big man, he was expected to bolster the team’s offensive firepower at the frontcourt.

Following their recent NBA Finals run, Boston remains a premiere title contender entering the 2022-2023 campaign.
