‘A first-ballot Hall of Famer’: Jalen Brunson all love in his playing experience with Luka Doncic

Amid the fact that he is now welcoming a new chapter in New York, Jalen Brunson still has no love lost for his former teammate Luka Doncic.

The new Knicks point man joins an interview on USA TODAY’s Sports Seriously, detailing his experiences of playing with Doncic which he claimed as a “first-ballot Hall of Famer.”

“It wasn’t really difficult because you knew what it was,” Brunson said, via Fadeaway World’s Ishaan Bhattacharya. “Luka is such a great talent that he can do anything on the court, whether he wants to do it or not. I think for me, I kinda figured out how to play with him. He’s so dominant, he knows how to play the game, and he knows how to help his team win. Having a guy like that, things are rarely going to change around him.

“So, you’re gonna have to adapt… I truly loved playing with him because we were in a position to win every night because of him. For me, I learned how to play off of him. We’re great friends so that’s obviously a plus too. He’s special. I’ve said this numerous times and I’ll continue to speak it into existence, that dude is a first-ballot Hall of Famer.”

Brunson truly had a special first-hand experience of playing with Doncic, wherein both of them entered the NBA as draft picks of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 rookie selection. They also helped the franchise in locking a sensational Western Conference Finals berth last 2021-2022 campaign, and the Villanova product truly understands how magical the Slovenian phenom at that time and the amount of damage he can still give amongst the rest of opponents.

Still at age 23 and will have plenty of time to mature and develop, Luka has more to accomplish in his astounding career. He already established himself as a generational talent, and future can only be bright for him moving forward.
