Steve Kerr sound off about Dubs’ chances of keeping the title back in Bay Area for next season

Winning a championship is hard, while going for a back-to-back is even much harder.

Those are the thoughts that Steve Kerr is trying to express upon being asked about how the Golden State Warriors will fare for a title defense this upcoming 2022-23 campaign.

Kerr acknowledges the fact that there are a handful of fellow powerhouse teams who can steal away the Larry O’Brien trophy, and factors like luck and injuries will continue to exist in the standpoint of contention.

Nevertheless, he believes that his Dubs have a clear shot to win it all once again.

“Keeping the title at Golden state? It’s going to be very difficult,” Kerr told Egypt sports outlet FilGoal. “A lot of great teams in the NBA, and it always require some luck; injuries, one shot goes in or misses. We have a good opportunity but you never know.”

After two seasons of settling in mediocrity, the Warriors reemerged from the depths and have revived their dynastic state in the NBA landscape – winning their fourth title in eight seasons.

As such, the road back to the summit will definitely be arduous. Fellow contenders have retooled very well, whereas West opponents like the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves have added competitive cogs which can take them to the next level. Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets and the L.A. Clippers are well-sounded with their key core members returning with full availability.

On the other side, the Milwaukee Bucks will always be a major threat with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo leading them. The Philadelphia 76ers, after several additions of impactful role players, are in the mix as well. And finally, their co-finalist in the Boston Celtics are very much hungry and furious to clinch that 18th banner.

In the end, for as long as they have their main foundations in Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins, the Bay Area has nothing to be afraid of regarding their capabilities to do it more.
