Myles Turner is looking for a much bigger money bag once he enters free agency next summer.
As told by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, Turner is seeking a pay raise from his current contract, as his camp will try to get a contract that offers over $20 million in annual salary.
He noted that it has to be a consideration for a team looking to acquire him via trade.
Myles Turner is going to be a free agent this summer, and he’s going to want a pay raise from what he’s making now. From what I’ve heard, they’re going to be looking to try and get over $20 million (annually). That’s something you’ve got to factor in (if you’re trading for Turner).
Turner’s four-year rookie scale extension, in which he inked last 2018 with the Indiana Pacers, will hit the final year this forthcoming 2022-2023 campaign.
Though his scoring numbers remain stagnant since the signing, the big man transformed into an intimidating roadblock in the paint, clinching the league leader in blocks crown from 2018-2019 (2.7 BPG) and 2020-2021 (3.4 BPG), respectively.
He also managed to improve his shooting numbers. For the past four seasons, he drained 289-of-835 threes (35 percent efficiency), making himself a threat outside on the offensive end.
Upon his expiring status, Turner will continue to retain the trade noise associated with him. And by looking at the current lineup structure of the Pacers and their approach now with their young core bannered by Tyrese Haliburton, his future in Indianapolis appears nearing to an end soon.
