The Cleveland Cavaliers have shown interest to acquire Donovan Mitchell, but not at the expense of their current core foundations.

As reported by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (h/t HoopsHype), the previous negotiations of the Cavs with the Utah Jazz has shown the former barring Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley for a trade to gain Donovan Mitchell.

The Cavs can offer three unprotected firsts. They’re not going to give Evan Mobley or Darius Garland. I would be surprised if they would give Jarrett Allen. In fact, I’ll just tell you I heard the Cavs said Jarrett Allen’s not available. That those three those three guys (Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley) I heard they told the Jazz are not available.

It was reported by SNY’s Ian Begley that the Cavs have already removed themselves from the Mitchell sweepstakes, and this condition they gave clearly shows that a massive deal is unlikely.

Jazz lead exec Danny Ainge remains stuck in his desire to acquire a massive haul from Mitchell, hoping that a transaction would take place before the training camp as revealed also by Windhorst

As such, the end of the trade talks between both sides works out for each other, with the Cavs remaining committed to their promising young stars for the future.
