Brooklyn Nets have no interest in signing Carmelo Anthony or Dwight Howard

Kevin Durant has reportedly asked the Nets to sign Melo.

The Brooklyn Nets appear to have sorted their most troubling issue out, with Kevin Durant apparently backtracking on his request to be traded. It’s been reported that the team could be considering the acquisition of free agent Carmelo Anthony as a means of placating Durant, while there are also rumors of Dwight Howard being a possible target.

However, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the team has no interest in signing Anthony or Howard.

“Despite separate reports about the Nets considering Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony as free agent additions, Brooklyn doesn’t have interest in adding either veteran currently, HoopsHype has learned,” Scotto writes.

The Nets managed to hold on to Durant because they had all of the leverage, given his four-year contract plus the fact that most NBA teams were averse to giving up multiple All-Stars plus picks for the two-time NBA champion. They’re now considered favorites to win the Eastern Conference, though the bookmakers aren’t inclined to think so just yet.
