Cavs shown interest to acquire Donovan Mitchell — rumors

The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to be lurking around in the ongoing Donovan Mitchell scenario.

As reported by SNY’s Ian Begley, the Cavs have kept in touch recently with Utah about the availability of Mitchell, which only shows their interest to acquire him.

It was earlier revealed by John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 Phoenix that Cleveland has shown their intent on Mitchell, together with the Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers. But the Knicks remain primed as favorites given their draft assets and young gems in RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin.

While there’s no trade materializing yet on the part of the Knicks due to their reluctance to give future draft selections, the Cavs can be considered by lead executive Danny Ainge for a probable deal.

The Cavaliers may choose to propose the explosive Collin Sexton, given that he currently stands as a restricted free-agent who can possibly be placed at the core of the Jazz’ impending rebuild. They also have solid pieces in the likes of Isaac Okoro, Lauri Markkanen and plenty of draft threshold for the following years which can entice the Jazz.

An acquisition of Mitchell brings brighter chances for Cleveland to contend, positioning themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the long-term picture with that promising talent and youth uprising.

Utah firmly holds its demands in order to let go of Mitchell, and it seems that this ongoing talks are poised to extend through the upcoming season.
