Contrary to the earlier reports suggesting that he won’t suit up in this year’s EuroBasket upon sustaining a ligament damage to his right knee against Germany, Tomas Satoransky is eventually recovering and preparing to play in hopes to lead the Czech Republic.

As clarified by EuroHoops, Satoransky’s MRI has shown that he suffered from a “severe” ankle sprain. Though uncertainty looms if he will be able to lead the Czechs against Poland in the Sept. 2 tourney opener, the veteran guard is not yet ruled out for the whole competition.

“The magnetic resonance examination was the same as the other examination. Tomas remains in Prague to rehabilitate intensively. We will know the results of rehabilitation and treatment in a week after the next resonance, which will indicate further progress towards EuroBasket,” said national team manager Michal Sob while talking to the local press.

“Satoransky’s mentality is set in such a way that he wants to do what’s 100% possible to participate in the championship,” he added.

Hosting the Group D of the tournament’s preliminary round, the Czech Republic will face Serbia, the Netherlands, Finland, and Israel following their first bout against Poland.
