Given that they are aiming to gain solid assets for postseason contention, Charlotte Hornets could put Kelly Oubre Jr. in the trade market.

As stated by an anonymous Eastern Conference executive to Heavy’s Dean Deveney, the Hornets may consider shipping Oubre Jr. and become a potential trading chip for the Chicago Bulls.

“Charlotte is one other team that has looked for a big guy but they’re not desperate to do it. If you’re Chicago and you could get Gordon Hayward in a deal like that, I think you give that a go even with the injury stuff. But more likely, you’re looking at Mason Plumlee and someone like Kelly Oubre. The Bulls gave up two picks for Vuc, they’re going to want something in return if they trade him. They would much rather just bring him back, maybe even extend him, then see if he plays better,” the executive said.

The 26-year-old Oubre is coming off from a 15.0 points, 4.0 boards, and 44 percent shooting season with the up and coming Hornets team. Given the fact that he has an expiring deal worth over $12 million next year, the motives of Charlotte flipping him out is just reasonable.

As such, the Bulls looked poised to compile more wing presence, and adding Oubre Jr. is ideal for versatility and flexibility around Demar DeRozan.
