For the Denver Nuggets fans, the countdown for Jamal Murray’s much-awaited return can now be started.
Upon being mobbed by local media down in Australia, Murray announced that he is eyeing to be back on the NBA hardwood in the Nuggets’ 2022-2023 preseason opener on Oct. 7 (h/t The Age’s Roy Ward). They will visit the United Center for a face-off against the Chicago Bulls.
In the middle of 2020-2021 campaign, the former Kentucky standout was having an incredible year with career-high in points (21.2), assists (4.8), steals (1.3), efficiency (47.7%) and three-point shooting (40.8), until suffering from a depressing torn ACL in his left knee. His full recovery is over 18 months in the making, breaching through the last season.
Murray’s absence severely inflicted a major damage on Denver’s title hopes for the past two seasons, and his impending comeback can’t even be greater enough for the whole franchise and its fan base thirsty for that first championship ever.
For now, Murray is handing out some sneak peek of the thrill and energy flowing throughout his body – realizing that his rebirth is just across one month away.
