One of the much-awaited NBA games of the Mavericks fans in the 2022-2023 season has now its official date.

As relayed by league insider Marc Stein via Twitter, Dec. 27 is the date wherein a familiar face in Jalen Brunson will land in Dallas — but as a member of the New York Knicks to duel the Mavs for the first time.

This riveting matchup comes after the Knicks host the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas Day.

From being a second rounder in 2018, the former Villanova standout transformed into a loaded offensive guard last season with the Mavs, averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 boards in 79 games as the Robin behind superstar Luka Doncic.

But now, he is on the East coast to run the show for the Big Apple in the upcoming basketball campaign.

Brunson’s unrestricted free agency story this offseason has gained widespread coverage in the NBA media, wherein the Knicks successfully stole him on a four-year, $104 million deal with a player option at the tail end of the contract.

As such, this transaction and rumored off-court connection of both Brunson and Knicks developed murmurs in the association. With that, they are currently under the league’s investigative lens due to tampering allegations.

Upon the exit of Brunson, Spencer Dinwiddie transcends to become Doncic’s backcourt partner. They also added a key piece for contention and a lengthy, offensive versatile big man in Christian Wood.

The scheduled encounter serves as a bittersweet one for both Brunson and the Mavs, but they’ll definitely give the fans a heck of a show.
