Ex-Nets’ Guard Jamal Crawford Could See Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving Returning To Brooklyn, “Just Want Them To Be Happy”

Fifteen years ago, Kobe Bryant asked to be traded from the Los Angeles Lakers after a first-round exit. Bryant wanted to be traded to a franchise willing to surround him with the talent to compete for a championship.

“I would like to be traded, yeah,” Bryant said on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York. “Tough as it is to come to that conclusion there’s no other alternative, you know?”

Stephen A Smith would then ask him if there was anything that the Lakers could to keep Bryant in Los Angeles.

“No,” Bryant said. “I just want them to do the right thing.”

The Lakers later made a trade that would send Pau Gasol to Los Angeles and players such as Marc Gasol and Kwame Brown to Memphis.

“I have to take my hat off to [owner Jerry] Buss and [GM] Mitch [Kupchak] for going forward with this,” Bryant told reporters after the trade. “Now it’s up to us to go out there and work hard.”

Earlier this summer, Kevin Durant asked to be traded and named Phoenix as his preferred destination. Unfortunately for Durant, once DeAndre Ayton and Devin Booker signed their extensions, some of Phoenix’s trade assets weren’t available.

Some have compared the situation in Brooklyn this summer to what Kobe Bryant went through before the 2007-08 season. So, I recently spoke with former Net Jamal Crawford about Durant and Kyrie Irving potentially returning to Brooklyn.

“For them, I don’t know. I could easily see them coming back, but everything is so fluid in the NBA, and things change fast. So, whether they come back or not, I want them to be happy. They both are friends of mine, and they both care deeply about people & basketball,” said Crawford.

Former Nets great urged Durant and Irving to give it one last try.

“Make one more run together my guys!!”

The Nets have made some solid moves this offseason that could put them in playoff contention if both all-stars decided to stay and give it another go. They added a defensive specialist in Royce O’Neale and signed TJ Warren. It has been reported by Bally Sports Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson that former three-time defensive player Dwight Howard has some interest in signing with the Nets.
