The Lakers are not done making offers for Kyrie Irving. Even though it was reported that the 30-year-old point guard is prepared to stay in Brooklyn, he is still wanted by Los Angeles.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers are expected to step up their pursuit of the former NBA champion by finally offering the maximum number of first-round picks, something that they refused to do previously.

It has also been reported that the Nets don’t intend to move Irving until Kevin Durant is traded. However, that remains an issue that is unlikely to be resolved any time soon, especially after KD made his ultimatum.

Irving has the backing of LeBron James who pushing the Lakers to get him to Los Angeles regardless of any draft picks that would have to be sacrificed in a potential trade.

Moreover, the team’s general manager Rob Pelinka reportedly promised LeBron to do everything to make the purple and gold compete for a championship every year while is a Laker.

Adding Irving, James’ former teammate in Cleveland, is viewed as a move that would increase Los Angeles’ chances of returning to contention next season.
