Jazz and Knicks trade talks about Donovan Mitchell ‘stalled out’ — Charania

The Donovan Mitchell talks between the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks has gone silent.

Sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic that the conversations between both sides have “stalled out,” but the Jazz remains in touch with the Washington Wizard and the Charlotte Hornets who are also classified as suitors for Mitchell.

“I’m told there hasn’t been contact between the two sides in roughly the last two weeks,” Charania said. “This is right now, this is current, these things can always be fluid, but this is where things stand right now.”

“… But in the meantime, I’m told that the Jazz are continuing conversations with other teams that are interested in Mitchell. Teams like Charlotte and Washington, I’m told.”

Per insider Marc Stein, the Jazz holds high regard in Mitchell’s value, asking the seven out of the Knicks’ eight first-round picks that are available for trade.

Undeniably, the Utah brass is heavily determined to match or even surpass what they absorbed from the shipment of Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The All-star guard has four years left in his five-year, $163MM deal, and is set to get even better as an All-Star guard.

Last season, Mitchell went off and had an average of 25.9 points, 5.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals
